What is the Marlowe Pioneer Program?

This is a program designed to train developers and anyone interested in decentralized finance products to write financial smart contracts (such as loans, swaps, CFDs and so on) using the Marlowe product suite.

When you join this program, you will become part of a focused group of developers who will get early access to a new course built to teach you how to build, simulate, analyze, and run financial smart contracts using Marlowe.

We’re aiming to keep this course interactive, with weekly videos, exercises, and Q&A sessions, along with exclusive access to the course creators and key experts in the field. You will also get access to a dedicated Marlowe community channel, created specifically to help Pioneers connect to each other.

We are no longer accepting registrations for the Marlowe Pioneer Program. We will be informing you about the next editions of the program in due course.

When will the course start?

We plan to launch this course in late April or May 2022. You will receive an email confirmation with the exact start date of the course as soon as we have more details.

Who is this program for?

The program is designed for:

  • Developers who are interested in writing financial smart contracts on the blockchain
  • Financial developers interested in building financial instruments on the blockchain
  • Anyone interested in building their own products in decentralized finance (DeFi)

What prior experience do I need?

You should understand the basic concepts of blockchain and smart contracts. It is highly recommended that you have experience with functional programming languages such as Haskell or JavaScript (as contracts can be written in either of these languages).

What can I expect to learn?

The Marlowe Pioneer Program will cover a broad range of subjects and concepts. During the course you will learn about the following:

  • How to write, build and simulate peer to peer financial smart contracts using JS, Haskell, Marlowe, or Blockly in Marlowe Build and Play.
  • Types of financial smart contracts and their use cases.

How much time will I need to dedicate to the course?

The course will be approximately 7 weeks in duration. Each week’s session will be a maximum of 1 hour long with 1 hour for Q&A. Additional coursework of between 1-5 hours will be required during the week depending on your skill level and availability. Of course, just like any other learning project, the more effort and dedication you put into it, the more you will get out of it!

Are there any funding opportunities for solutions built as part of the Marlowe Pioneer program?

Project Catalyst offers funding opportunities for the best solution ideas that can drive mass-scale adoption of DeFi on Cardano. Everyone is invited to submit their proposal. Check out the latest active campaigns and apply for funding.
